Carrier vetting for shippers
Hiring a carrier directly calls for a documented selection process too. Compare the carrier’s identity, returned authority records, insurance filings and dated history, and keep the evidence you relied on.
Montgomery, No. 24-1238 (May 14, 2026) concerned a broker: the Court held that the negligent-selection claim at issue was not FAAAA-preempted under the safety exception. It did not decide liability or prescribe a universal diligence checklist. Applying its reasoning to a particular direct-hire arrangement requires legal advice.
Daymark gives shippers the same evidence record used by brokers: source links, publication dates and coverage limits. A filing does not prove insurance is in force; confirm with the insurer. Missing data remains unknown.
Dispute a fact with source evidence. Reports await human review and do not automatically change the record. Read the methodology. An evidence pack is a diligence-file artifact, not proof of legal compliance.
